Lois Bridges, Ph.D. is the Vice President/Publisher of Scholastic Professional. She develops professional literacy resources for educators. Before she joined Scholastic, she was the Literacy Publisher at Heinemann Publishers, and the Director of Professional Publishing for The Galef Institute. She serves on the Literacy Awards Board for the Library of Congress and the Advisory Board for LitWorld.
Lois taught first grade on the Tohono O’odham Reservation in the Sonoran Desert before pursuing her doctorate in Education with a focus in Language & Literacy and Applied Linguistics from the University of Arizona. She is the author of eight books, including the recent Open a World of Possible, a tribute to the joy and power of literacy.
